THE WEDDING WITH MYSELF

A man goes to find the truth like a hero, and finally finds a small lie that is not well covered. He called it his marriage. -Nietische

This is a six-look 2019 S/S men's collection, inspired by pessimistic philosophy.

Schopenhauer wrote that life swings like a pendulum between pain and boredom. The blind, restless “will”, that impulse driving us to survive and reproduce, guarantees that satisfaction is temporary and desire endless. We reach for something, grasp it, feel a moment of relief, and then either suffer the pain of losing it or grow numb to its presence. There is no arrival, only the next wanting.

Nietzsche did not deny the diagnosis, but he refused the conclusion. If the will cannot be escaped, he argued, then let it be turned inward — not against itself, but toward self-overcoming. Let the same energy that produces suffering be redirected to produce strength. Let the absence of absolute meaning become not a wound, but a workshop.

Standing on this honest ground, the artist asks: if there is no ultimate solution, what matters? If happiness is not a destination, what direction remains worthy? Love matters. It is not a solution, but a choice. It does not pretend that happiness is a destination. It begins with a clear-eyed acceptance: no pre-written happy ending exists. No external authority — God, tradition, society, or love from another will finally complete you. The question is not “Will you love me forever?” The question is “Will I show up for myself, when no one is watching, when no one applauds, when no one else is coming?” Marriage is one of the stable, traditional, externally validated structures. The collection applies the traditional Chinese Qing Dynasty wedding customs as a form to break the traditions.

The exploration of embroidery revolves around the theme of “independence”. Water-soluble embroidery frees the thread from the fabric, allowing it to present its beauty independently without other materials. This also reduces waste, making the whole process more environmentally friendly. The textiles are highly versatile as they are double-sided. The technique can be applied to make accessories such as necklaces, bouquets and garters. Fabrics can be hollowed out or connected in multiple layers seamlessly. It presents a three-dimensional effect that is both functional and decorative.

Schopenhauer saw the will as a chain. Nietzsche saw the same chain and said: Pick it up, and dance with it. Make it into something you carry by choice, not by fate. This collection is that ritual.
